Challenge 1: Space Panic (1980, Arcade)

Space Panic walked so Mario could jump. Space Panic borrows the digging mechanic from Heiankyo Alien (later borrowed by Lode Runner) and sets it upon a familiar series of ladders and platforms. This game isn’t always considered a true platform game because you can’t jump, but it’s certainly the foundation upon which the platform genre is built.

How to Play

The goal of each level is to trap all the monsters. Press HOLE repeatedly to dig a hole. Lure the enemies into a hole to trap them, then press CLOSE repeatedly to cover them up.
